The National Blood Authority, acting on behalf of the Rudd Government and the state and territory governments, has reached an agreement with CSL Limited to ensure the continuation of a secure supply of blood plasma products and services. The contract with CSL supports the governments’ policy for the Australian-based fractionation of plasma with products manufactured exclusively in their facility at Broadmeadows, Victoria from donations supplied by the Australian Red Cross Blood Service. This agreement reflects government policy for the provision of a safe, secure and affordable supply of blood plasma products and services together with high quality management of supply to ensure that patients have access to products that their doctors determine will best meet their needs.
