Australian women are more likely to have breast cancer detected with new state-of-the-art equipment being introduced at BreastScreen Australia services – part of a $120 million national upgrade funded by the Rudd Government. The Rudd Government is determined to reduce the toll cancer imposes on Australians and the commitment to upgrade BreastScreen equipment is one component of the broader $1.3 billion National Cancer Statement in the 2009-10 Budget, funded out of the Health and Hospitals Fund. A new digital four-wheeled drive mobile BreastScreen Queensland van which will commence operation in the far northern region of Queensland within months.
